The context

A stage for data experts who usually stay in the shadows.

DatAfterwork is a private club organizing a series of events for data and AI experts and decision-makers in Switzerland, co-founded by Candice Valembois. Its mission is simple: give visibility to the best data projects that usually stay in the shadows. Every two months, the club meets for a curated evening: expert talks, structured networking, and live entertainment. I have been part of the team since the first edition, in October 2024. As co-host and director of the Data'Talk program, I coach every speaker who takes the stage and design the networking activities.

The atmosphere is friendly and light, but the visiblty is real and so can be the pressure for experts who are not used to the stage. My role is to help them craft the best version of their talk, coach their delivery to be engaging while staying authentic. And support their performance during the event, including preparation, stage check, and warm-up.

The problem

The audience knows the topic as well as the speaker. The talks must be as impactful as TED talks.

In this high visibility context, a fifteen-minute talk is closer to a TEDx talk than to a corporate update. One clear idea. A tight structure. A delivery that connects and engages. The audience at DatAfterwork is friendly but demanding: C-level data leaders, Heads of data, Senior practitioners... They live with the topic every day. They can tell when an argument is built on something solid, and when it is not. Add the pressure of speaking in front of peers and the format gets harder, not easier.

  • Compress one real experience into fifteen minutes without losing the depth
  • Hold a peer audience of fifty senior data and AI professionals
  • Stay in a professional register, not TEDx storytelling, not a corporate pitch
  • Make networking work on an evening already full of content
How the evening works

Coach the speakers. Co-host the stage. Enable the networking.

Before

Coach each speaker

Speakers receive individual sessions before the event: message and structure, script and slides, delivery for a peer audience. I also support them on the day of the event: welcome, sound and stage checks, warm-up, and preparation.

On stage

Co-host the evening

I co-host with the founder, Candice Valemblois, introducing speakers, holding the energy between segments, managing timing, facilitating interactive sequences, and maintaining the quality throughout the evening, from the first minute to the last.

Between talks

Enable the networking

I design and facilitate the DatA'Meet segment: structured activities, including the Data’Quiz, and networking that actually works in a professional but energizing format.

“J’ai eu le plaisir de participer à cet événement, et je dois dire que tout était au rendez-vous : des intervenants passionnants, des échanges enrichissants, et une ambiance conviviale qui a permis de tisser de belles connexions. Je serai sans hésitation présent pour les prochaines éditions !”
